About Mirin (she/they)
Let’s face it – life is hard sometimes. And it becomes even harder when we’re left alone with the crazy thoughts inside our head.
I come to this work as someone who has struggled a lot.. with anxiety, depression, disordered eating, trauma, undiagnosed neurodivergence (and all the fun stuff that comes with that!), low self-esteem, and more. And on that journey of learning to understand and heal myself, the desire to help others do the same has been born.
While your experience may be very different to mine, I know suffering, I know how it feels to cry yourself to sleep at night, or to not be able to sleep from the incessant racing thoughts. I know how it feels to feel totally lost and hopeless, unsure of how to get out of the loop you’re stuck in. And as cliché as it is – I want you to know that you are not alone.
Professional History
Before training as a psychotherapist I went down the route of alternative modalities, training and working in energy healing, yoga, coaching, and mindfulness. The body has a place in therapeutic work, and when appropriate I incorporate it into sessions. The same goes for art and creativity. Yet, my therapeutic approach is collaborative and consensual, so if one approach doesn’t suit you, we pivot and try something else.
My therapeutic approaches include: IFS, CBT, somatic therapy, mindfulness, trauma-informed, person-centred, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, existential, & polyvagal theory/nervous system regulation. (You can learn more about these in the FAQs and feel free to contact me to learn more).
“Mirin and I met through Instagram. It was divine timing! At the time, I was feeling stuck in an emotional experience that wasn’t serving me and my existing tools were failing me. I knew I needed something new. After our sessions, I felt more aligned – body, mind and soul. Mirin offered a supportive environment during our calls. I felt understood and validated. Mirin provided me with a plethora of tools that have continued to support my emotional healing journey. I am grateful for Mirin and highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for support in navigating their healing journey.”

Philosophy
As a child I wondered a lot about the meaning of life, and what drives human behaviour. Today I know that we make our own meaning, and finding meaning whether it be in our suffering or life purpose, can be very therapeutic.
It would be nice if there was a magical formula, a series of actions we could take that would be guaranteed to fix all of our problems – but life and we as individuals are not that simple. Therapy and coaching, while often not straightforward and sometimes time-consuming – are the closest thing to that.
When we overcome hardships in life, we learn skills that carry forward. We are all unique in our therapeutic needs, and these change across the lifespan, I’m here to help you figure out who you are and what you need today. When appropriate I have tools, resources, skills, and teachings I can share with you. But more often, I help you figure out what you need for yourself.

"From the first meeting with Mirin, I didn't know what to expect from the sessions, but I felt such an ease with her and for the first time in my life i wasn’t ashamed or fearful speaking about myself and my past. I’ve learnt to talk about the future and putting plans in place, I learnt I can’t keep going over the past and the what ifs as it is never going to change the present moment and that’s all that matters. I really have had such a positive influence from going to counselling and making changes in my lifestyle"
"Thank you for the time we spent in the sessions because for me it was really essential to be able to recover and to reconnect with myself, something what i was searching for long time. Thank you Mirin for being such a special coach, because that is very difficult to find."
"Over the course of a year myself and Mirin, through various means, identified ways to tap into my own mind and highlight what was intrusive and what was reality. Mirin also helped me connect with my inner child to allow her to heal which has been monumental in my growth as an individual. Mirin taught me various strategies and provided me with the tools to allow myself to live fully and face fears that have often held me back. Mirin also worked closely with me on allowing myself to live a life I want to live and to not live a life solely to serve the needs of those around me. My experience with mirin has been completely life changing and I cannot thank her enough. I could not recommend her more"
"Mirin’s support encouraged me to keep going. She helped me navigate the self-judgment and doubt and even made it light-hearted and fun. When my mind would berate myself for not "doing it right" "or thinking too much" she would remind me that there is no right way to be present and thoughts are not who we are. She allowed me to feel safe in my vulnerability and created a space where I was able to explore my inner landscape and my own emotional holdings. With the tools and practices I learned through Mirin I feel more capable of managing my anxiety and stress. Most importantly, this practice has given me an opportunity to look within myself and to create more authenticity and joy in my daily life."
